​Midnight Madness 2019

Join us on Friday, October 25th for "Magical Midnight Madness". Dress up as your favorite wizard or witch, or your favorite costume, and come to Uptown Westerville for a night of Halloween fun and activities, including trick or treat in stores. State Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. (costumes are recommend, but not madatory!)

All Activities are free and include:

  • "Thriller on State" - Generations PAC will lead the Tarantallegra, the Dancing jinx. We first see this spell when it is cast against Harry by Malfoy in the Dueling Club. The spell will be cast on State Street at 8pm for a flash mob to dance the Halloween classic "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. The flash mob will meet on State Street by Edward Jones Financial.   • Trick or treat for the kids in the stores from 6pm - 9pm
  • Adult trick or treat in the stores from 6:30pm - 8:30pm:

  • Westerville Public Library's Wizards and Wands Festival - enjoy a walk-through experience of activities as the library is transformed ed into a wizarding wonderland with spirited storefronts, puzzling platforms, bizarre buses& much more. Costumes encouraged.
  • Get your Wizards & Wands "Book Dragon" shirt ​and help support the Westerville Library at Megan Lee Designs (20 E. College Ave. off of Haywood Alley)
  • MAD Scientists Associates puts a twist on this year's Wizards and Wands theme and presents "Wizards and Sondes" Lizards are unique reptiles, of which there are 5 species in Ohio, while data sondes allow us to collect important scientific information, such as water quality data! Come learn more about these and other magical tools used ecological assessments at MAD Scientists Associates. 
  • Enjoy a Halloween Party for the Adults at Good Vibes Winery (2 South State) with live music and a costume contest! 
  • Find out what House you are in, The Uptown Sorting Hat Ceremony is at City Hall. You will find the favorite drink of Wizards and Witches there too, Butter Beer. 
  • The Forbidden Forest is a patch of untamed forest that grows on the grounds of Hogwarts School. It is home to many magical creatures. By Hanby School find Metro Parks with "Care of a Magical Environment": live animals, nighttime critters, creepy touchy-feely biofacts and something special for your trick-or-treat bag. Also in the forest by Hanby, look for the Westerville Electric Division Arboristsl. 
  • Sounds Educational Center will be performing by City Hall
  • The Puppet Posse will also be performing bringing their Wizard puppet and friends.  
  • Join in with Zombie Zumba on State Street (after the flash mob)
  • Capow! Columbus will be at 18 North State St (Pure Roots Boutique) to take your Hogwart's portrait. Bring your best costume in case your photo comes to life!   
  • Harry Potter searched the Wizarding World for the  7 Horcruxes. You can find the 7 Horcruxes yourself by taking the Harry Potter  Scavenger Hunt with Westerville Parks and Rec Scarify App
  • Explore the possibilities of the Invisibility Cloak with The Arts Council of Westerville at the City Hall Courtyard
  • the Elder Wand, along with the Resurrection Stone and Invisibility Cloak, were very real objects in the wizarding world. Check out the science behind the Elder Wand with and Electrostatic Discharge demonstrations on State Street. 
  • Check out the Tournament of Champions at Hogwarts Academy for competitors ages 10-18years. Each House will have a different challenge, including Gaga Ball Pit, Cornhole, Giant Jenga, Photo Boothe, DJ Dance Party, Pizza, Basketball and more! The Tournament of Champions is located by Union Savings Bank. 
  • Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has a very loyal flock of Thestrals used mainly to pull the carriages that lead elder students from Hogsmeade station to the gates of the Castle. Come take a carriage ride on State Street and see if you can see the Thestrals. Carriage rides will start at the lot next to the Columbus Running Company (corner of State and Home streets). A $1 donation is recommended for the carriage rides! 
  • Generations PAC - Generations will be out on College Ave. with performances. 
  • Stop by  Java Central's "Haunted Hollow" at 20 South State Street where the brick walk will be transformed into a foggy, spooky (but kid-friendly) walk with witches, goblins and creepy music. plus the staff will all be in costume.
