Grab a drink from a DORA establishment and join the Westerville History Center & Museum for a guided walking tour of sites within the DORA related to the town’s Temperance & Prohibition history.
The home of the former Anti-Saloon League is now home to a brewery, multiple wineries, bars & restaurants serving alcohol, and now, a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA).
Participants will learn how Westerville has weaved its way in and out of alcohol prohibition in some unique ways. From the bombing of saloons at the same time buying alcohol at a pharmacy - to being so dry you’d have to “sprinkle the streets after a rain.” Westerville’s complicated history with alcohol leaves it with a unique legacy.

Tours are free and limited to 20 participants per tour. Tours are offered on the following dates (all Thursdays):
All tours begin at 6:30pm at the American Issue Sculpture at Westerville's City Hall building (21 South State Street, Westerville, 43081).
The tour goes in a loop. Participants will walk approximately ½ mile.

- This tour should take approximately 30-40 minutes.
- This is not a fully comprehensive tour on Prohibition in the USA but focuses on the local stories surrounding Temperance & Prohibition.
- Attendees are required to register below and read and confirm agreement of the liability release.
- Attendees are allowed to purchase and enjoy a DORA drink during this tour.
- This tour is for adults only, 21 years of age and older.

Prohibition Walking Tour in the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) Liability Release
The liability, release, and waiver, in human language:
If you participate in a Prohibition walking tour within the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) with the Westerville History Center & Museum at the Westerville Public Library (WPL), you are agreeing to the following:
Voluntary Participation. I understand and confirm that my participation in Westerville History Center & Museum at the Westerville Public Library (WPL)) walking tour is voluntary. I am in good health and suffer from no physical or mental condition that would make me susceptible to injury or disability while participating in the tour.
Understanding Risks. I am aware of the risks, dangers and hazards involved in my participation in a WPL walking tour. I understand that the WPL walking tours take place in public venues under conditions largely beyond the control of WPL walk leaders. Potential risks may include, but are not limited to, uneven walking surfaces, potholes, raised path edges, wet or slippery ground, steps, curbs, low lighting, narrow walkways, traffic movement, road crossings, diversions due to construction or exposure to weather conditions.
Assuming Risks. I assume all risks involved in participation in a walking tour provided by WPL. I accept personal responsibility for any liability, injury, loss, or damage in any way connected with my participation in a WPL walking tour.
Release of Liability. I release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue WPL, its principals, affiliated entities, parent companies, subsidiaries, present and former employees, owners, officers, members, managers, partners, contractors, insurers, shareholders, and directors (collectively “Released Entities”) from any and all claims, actions, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses for death, injury, loss or damage of property, in any way arising out of my participation in a WPL walking tour, including, without limitation, any and all claims resulting from the negligence of the Released Entities.
Indemnity Agreement. I indemnify and hold harmless the Released Entities from any loss, liability, damage or cost that they may incur for losses and damages which may be brought against me or against any of them by anyone claiming to be injured (including death) or whose property is damaged as a result of my actions arising from or during a WPL walking tour.
If any portion of this Waiver is held to be invalid it is agreed that the balance of the Agreement will remain valid and enforceable.
Promotion Release. I agree to grant to WPL a royalty-free license to use my photographic, video, or digital likeness, in whole or in part, taken during a tour, solely for promotional, educational, and/or WPL purposes.
Consent to Medical Treatment. I authorize WPL to provide me with customary medical assistance, transportation, and emergency medical services as the result of injury or health condition. This consent does not impose a duty upon WPL to provide such assistance, transportation, or services. I have the right to refuse medical assistance and understand WPL will provide assistance if I am incapacitated.
Consumption of Alcohol. I acknowledge that within the DORA, I may consume alcohol. I fully understand that there may be consumption of alcohol before, during and/or after the tour by me or other participants on the Tour. I understand and acknowledge the potential risks and dangers associated with the consumption of alcohol. I am aware that this activity includes the risk of injury and even death, and I hereby elect to voluntarily participate, knowing that it may be hazardous to my property and me. I take full responsibility for any liability associated with my consumption of alcohol, during or after the tour. I acknowledge that WPL assumes no liability for injuries that may occur to me or others, and no liability for any civil or criminal violation or damages that may be assessed against me as a result of my alcohol consumption before, during or after the Tour

If you participate in a Prohibition walking tour within the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) with the Westerville History Center & Museum at the Westerville Public Library (WPL), you are agreeing to the following:
- I am taking this tour voluntarily and am in good health.
- I understand there are risks to walking in public.
- I accept personal responsibility for anything that happens to me, like if I get hurt or lose something.
- I release WPL and anyone working for it, including contractors, from any claims or liability for damages.
- If something bad happens to me during the tour, it’s not WPL’s fault.
- If part of this waiver is deemed to be invalid or unenforceable, it doesn’t mean the whole thing is.
- If I agreed to it, WPL can take photos and video during the walking tour and can use my image, likeness, recordings of me in any format to promote their tours or any other way they like without having to pay me anything for it, ever.
- If I get hurt or need medical attention, WPL can arrange it, but it’s not their duty to do so.
- I may consume alcohol during the tour, but I take responsibility for any injuries that happen to me due to my consumption.
